Marine 3

 

The Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad operates a 23' SeaArk rescue boat designated as "Marine 3".  It is equipped with long range capabilities on the water and can be trailered to any waterway.  It's cab features seating for four team members, heat, radio communications and a multifunction navigation and RADAR unit from Raymarine.   It's primary operating territory is on the St. Lawrence River. The unit operates under the direction of Dive Coordinators Matt Denner and James "Rusty" Darcy. The OVRS Dive Team works closely with the Ogdensburg Fire Department Dive Team, Ogdensburg Police Department Dive Team and the St. Lawrence County Underwater Recovery Team.

The OVRS pays for members to take SCUBA lessons. All active, certified divers, in good standing on the Dive Team are provided with their own personal SCUBA equipment.

Ice and Dry Suit Divers are also equipped with underwater communications manufactured by Ocean Technology SystemsEach diver uses a full face mask with integrated communication devices that allow them to communicate with other divers.  On the surface the team is equipped to communicate with divers below the water to ensure our team is operating in a safe environment.




The team is also equipped with an underwater camera system capable of being deployed from the surface and can be used without deploying divers into the water.  The system can also be used during night time operations which allows the team to inspect the underwater environment without deploying divers in to hazardous situations.  It is also capable of being connected to recording devices and using either a diver or extension pole can capture video evidence used for training and investigative purposes.
